“Pharmacists transforming global health”, the focus of the World Pharmacists Day

Today, September 25 it is celebrated the World Pharmacists Day, a celebration promoted by una conmemoración impulsada por la International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), that this year with the motto  “Pharmacists transforming global health” wants to recognize and transmit to society the crucial role that pharmacists play in the improvement of health standards. All of them work day in and day out to promote patient safety, supporting good performance of treatments as well as the efficiency of drugs, taking care of the continuity of treatments and avoiding the occurrence of errors and negative interaction of drugs. A job that this year has become even more relevant due to the importance of pharmacists in the management of the pandemic.

As stated by the president of FIP, Dominique Jordan, “our objective with this celebration is to show how pharmacists contribute to a world where all benefit of the access to safe, effective, of high quality and accessible medication and healthcare technology, as well as all of the services of pharmaceutical care”.

Along those lines we at the Foundation for Innovation and Development of Health Safety want to emphasize the value of the pharmaceutical profession and to remind that this celebration is an important opportunity to communicate to the world the way pharmacists are transforming healthcare through a variety of healthcare services, including the advisory about healthy living, vaccination to prevent diseases and to guarantee that medication is properly administered, therefore controlling the effects of those diseases and improving life standards. Furthermore, we shall not forget the role that pharmacists have in developing new drugs and vaccines that are safe and effective, an issue presently specially relevant in the race to develop a vaccine against the SARS-Cov 2 virus.
